Evangelicals & Role of Women in Ministry

We live in a time of no conviction, a time where Churches are more concerned with being perceived as being nice than they are about being doctrinally sound and biblically pure.

Newspring Church, up until this point, a Church in cooperation with the SBC Convention, has a female “teaching pastor,” a clear violation of God’s explicit teachings on who is qualified to serve in that role and a Statement of Faith any Church wishing to cooperate with the SBC Convention must affirm to be and remain a member in good standing.

1 Timothy Chapters 2 and 3 can not be clearer on the matter. A woman is not permitted to teach or have authority over a man in the Church or the home. According to the Apostle Paul, who wrote under God’s inspiration, a person must be the husband of one wife to serve as an Elder.

How can a woman be the husband of one wife? She CAN’T! The Bible does not permit or condone misogyny, and this is not female bashing on my part running amok.

Women play a vital role in the life of the Church and retain full equality with men. However, the Bible is abundantly clear that they do not share the same function as men. This is just as we see in the Triune God: full equality amongst the Godhead but different functionality.

Jesus Christ is fully God, just as much as the Father, but He willingly and freely subordinates Himself to the Father. The Holy Spirit does the same thing and subordinates Himself to both the Father and the Son. There is one God but three Persons equal in ontology but subordinate in function.

Thus, it is a SINE QUA NON that a female can not hold the office of Pastor/Bishop/Elder, all interchangeable terms found in the NT as to who can hold the office of leader in the NT Church while simultaneously remaining equal to man.

I don’t care what the culture or the Liberals say or believe regarding the matter. It is not a small or trite thing to add to or take away from the Word of God.

I am incredibly disappointed that the SBC Convention still classified Newspring Church as a Church in friendly cooperation with the SBC Convention. I am appalled and deeply saddened that Newspring Church still posits itself as a Church committed to biblical fidelity.

This is not one of those doctrinal issues we can agree to disagree with. It is one of those which two cannot walk together unless they agree.

Thus, the Church must be prepared to plant its flag and resolutely due upon it. With the Lord’s enablement, I stand ready to plant my individual flag and die. The question that remains is, what about you?

While on Earth, Jesus Christ thundered that if the Church were to lose its saltiness, it would be good for nothing other than to be trodden down by men.

My Brothers and Sisters, this is what we see right before our eyes because the Church refuses to take an unwavering and unyielding stand with first-order biblical tenets of the faith.

Dr. Voddie Baucham is proving to be prescient when he says the Church has adopted an Eleventh Commandment: Thy Shall Be Nice.

Despite what the SBC Convention or Newspring Church says, it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of a living God.

As usual, let me know what you think. Until then keep your hands to the plow and seek to serve for an Audience of One.

With fear & trembling,

Ricky V Kyles Sr. DEdMin
