Evangelicals & Healthcare

Americans in general and AAs specifically are some of the most politically naive and crassly ignorant people on the planet.

First, William Jefferson Clinton tried to emulate the demonstrably failed and flawed government-run healthcare system, aka Social Medicine, found in Europe. Yet that colossal failure did not deter the AA Black Jesus, Barack Hussein Obama, from promising to deliver his people to the Promised Land.

One only needs to talk to our neighbors to the immediate North to find out why they often flock to the good ole USA for their healthcare treatment, especially when the care is elective, given the long wait times in Canada.

Similarly, one can easily check in with our brethren in Europe to understand they are not thrilled with the efficiency of their healthcare for the very same reasons.

Socialized Medicine is doomed from the start because it can never be run efficiently with a top-down approach.

Informed Evangelicals have long known and communicated the need to adopt the Principle of Subsidiarity (see my prior blogs to learn more about the doctrine of subsidiarity, or just Google the term to educate yourself). Subsidiarity teaches a bohemic such as the Federal Government is ill-equipped to manage a federal healthcare system efficiently.

Just yesterday, a dissenter sent me an accusatory text declaring me to be an intellectual fraud for spouting false information because, allegedly, the Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, purportedly said on national television that the Republicans had always had an alternative plan for Obamacare.

Well, when engaging in public debate, a necessary sine qua non is the necessity for one to be able to walk and chew gum at the same time.

Republicans may very well have an alternative to ObamaCare. Still, one thing I know with absolute ceritude is Conservatism, properly understood and employed, would never advocate for the federal government running America’s healthcare system.

Offering subsidies, rebates, or similar programs is what the U.S. Government does as a matter of course. Still, those approaches are nowhere close to eating the entire elephant and running the system altogether.

I was flabbergasted that my interlocutor truly believed he had a I gotcha moment. My thesis was never that Conservatives do not try to ensure Americans have healthcare; surely any compassionate government would.

What I have consistently advocated and will continue to do so is that the Federal Government is not equipped to oversee a Federal Healthcare plan.

It is altogether puzzling that the Left consistently chooses to respond, what better options the Conservatives offer to ward off criticism of Obamacare with the clear implication that Obamacareis better than nothing and Conservatives should shut up until and unless they can provide something better.

The Free Market model understands that healthcare will always be best managed by allowing Capitalism to function. Over time, competition and simple Supply and Demand will determine the price of healthcare, as they do in every other commercial transaction.

All goods and services typically increase in price over time. A loaf of bread is demonstrably more expensive now than it was five years ago. That is just the nature of the beast. The problem with the implementation of Obamacare is that the cost of healthcare rose at a rate disproportionate to inflation, all the while directly contradicting Obama’s ubiquitously stated promise that his plan would decrease healthcare costs by $2500/family.

Yet, what do we see coming from the Left? We see cries that healthcare is broke! Well, who broke in first is a fair and more prudent question.

I submit to you, the fair-minded reader, if there is such a beast, the political party that broke it is the Democratic Party. Obamacare passed with nary one solitary Republican vote. The Obama COVID subsidies similarly passed with not one Republican vote in Congress.

My momma had a simple rule when I was growing up: you break it or cause the mess, then you fix it because she sho was not gonna do it.

Senator Chuck Schumer and Representative Hakeem Jeffries have been the point men for the Democratic Party during this entire healthcare and subsequent government shutdown debate, and their constant refrain has been that the Republicans are impeding Americans from being able to afford their healthcare.

They say this with no apparent ability to blush when it was the Democratic ill-advised plan that has us here in this mess in the first place.

I close by positing that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. What will it take for rational people to stop politically aligning with the Democratic Party, especially people who claim allegiance to Jesus Christ of Nazareth?

You see, it is dramatically more than just the issue of abortion that makes the Democratic Party repugnant to me as a Christ-follower. Abortion just headlines a potpourri of reasons. I will never cast a ballot for a Democratic candidate because they endorse and embrace things that are in direct opposition to human flourishing.

So, to my professing Christ-followers who continue to alight with the Left I submit you do so at your own eternal peril. The Holy Writ says

Do two walk together, unless they have agreed to meet? Amos 3:3

Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. Ephesians 5:11

Therefore, go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you. 2 Cor. 6:17

I am doing all I know to do, as revealed by Holy Scriptures, for Jesus Christ to welcome me when I take that last breath and enter eternity.

I aim to have no part in abortion, or advocating, condoning, and celebrating a same-sex union, period, full-stop, and end of story.

I make it my business not to enter into any alliance that I come to believe that Jesus Christ would not participate in if He were physically present on planet Earth today without apology or compromise.

My simple query to my Liberal brethren is, make it make sense. Why do you think you can and do so with impunity?

If my reading of Holy Scripture is correct, there is not a chance in Hell you will not die and perish in your sin unless and until you turn and repent and leave the Democratic Party.

As usual, let me know what you think. Until then, keep your hands to the plow and seek to serve for an Audience of One.

With fear & trembling,

Ricky V Kyles Sr. DEd.Min
