Introduction: Doctrine Is Not Optional
In this video, I offer a biblical and theological examination of T.D.'s public teaching. Jakes, focusing specifically on doctrine—particularly the doctrine of God.
This is not a critique of personality, style, race, or platform. It is an evaluation of public teaching in light of Scripture and historic Christian orthodoxy.
Because T.D. Jakes has exercised extraordinary influence over millions through sermons, conferences, books, and media. Doctrinal clarity is not optional. Scripture commands believers to test teachers, contend for the faith, and reject error—especially when that error concerns the nature of God Himself.

Trinitarian Heresy and the Doctrine of God
Trinitarian heresy corrupts the doctrine of God by denying the eternal distinction of the divine persons, replacing historic Christian orthodoxy with theological confusion.
What This Examination Addresses
This presentation addresses the following:
Why doctrine matters
What Modalism / Oneness theology teaches
Why clarity regarding the Trinity is non-negotiable
Why “sounding orthodox” is not the same as confessing orthodoxy
Why greater influence brings greater accountability
This is not an attempt to judge salvation or motives. I leave that matter to the Almighty and All-Knowing, Thrice-Holy God.
My analysis is an act of biblical obedience, rooted in love for truth, the Church, and the Gospel.
The Central Doctrinal Problem: The Trinity
Because of Jakes’s global reach, his heretical view of the Trinity—whether consistently articulated or strategically obscured—renders his teaching devoid of spiritual power. God does not imbibe with heretical teachers.
If this assessment is correct—and I am confident that it is—then a troubling question follows:
Why do so many who claim to be the people of God fail to sense the absence of God’s presence in such teaching?

The only coherent answer is theological, not sociological.
Spiritual Discernment and the Indwelling Spirit
Such discernment failure is only possible if the individual in question is not indwelt by the Third Person of the Trinity.
Scripture is explicit:
“Study to show thyself approved, a workman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)
Many are simply unable to discern that Jakes is not a teacher to whom they should submit. The reason is sobering: they lack spiritual ears to hear and spiritual eyes to see.
This is not an insult. It is a biblical diagnosis.
Pernicious Preachers and Cultural Christianity
One of my former pastors, Wes Conner, preached a sermon series titled Pernicious Preachers. Providentially, during that series I had friends visiting, and they were astonished—though they should not have been—that T.D. Jakes was named explicitly.
This reaction is unsurprising when one recognizes a hard truth:
Many African American churchgoers are cultural Christians, not regenerate believers.
This reality is why I have described the African American church as apostatized writ large.

Naming the Error Clearly
Clarity requires courage. The following assessments are not personal attacks; they are theological judgments based on public teaching:
T.D. Jakes — rank heretic
Martin Luther King Jr. — rank heretic
Tony Evans — rank heretic
Jamal Bryant — false prophet
Byron Brazier — false prophet
Roland Martin — false prophet
Raphael Warnock — false prophet
Frederick D. Haynes III — false prophet
The Church’s refusal to name error has not preserved unity—it has accelerated decay.
A Watchman’s Resolve
I understand what is at stake. Therefore, I will not go silently into the pass.
I will stand my post and sound the alarm, as God commanded the prophet Ezekiel, until He calls me home.
“Beloved, contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.” — Jude 3
