Evangelicals & Politics

The chief danger that confronts this coming century will be religion without the Holy Ghost, Christianity without Christ, forgiveness without repentance, salvation without regeneration, politics without God, heaven without hell.  William Booth

William Booth, the founder of the Salvation Army, spoke these prescient words early in the 1900s. These words do not rise to the level of inspired words like we find in God’s Holy Writ, but I challenge any reader to offer a sober assessment of our present world and not reach the same inescapable conclusion.

While Brother Booth’s words are not inspired, we find similar solemn declarations in God’s Holy Writ.

Now, the Spirit expressly says that in later times, some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared. 1 Timothy 4:1

For a time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions.

2 Timothy 4:3

Social Media is awash with allegedly ordained Ministers of the Gospel boldly and publicly proclaiming their political alignment with the candidacy of present Vice-President Kamala Harris.

Social Media is replete with alleged mature Christ-followers populating their Social Media pages with I Stand With Her memes while simultaneously presenting themselves as individuals who Stand With Him. Yet, the Bible offers this perplexing inquiry: How can two walk together unless they agree?

Let me state in the most unambiguous terms. You are either walking with one of two Fathers: the God of the Bible or the god of this age.

Many are aligning with a candidacy that explicitly advocates for the murder of life expressly created in the Imago Dei, reprehensible and morally detestable same-sex marriage, a state which, if lived out consistently, would lead to the extinction of the human race.

A candidacy that advocates for the willful mutilation of biological males and females, even young boys and girls as young as six years old, per the policy advocacy of our present-day POTUS, Joseph Biden.

Late Saturday evening, someone gleefully sent me information from Joy Reid's social media page about the formation of 200k Evangelicals for Harris. 200k professing Evangelicals entering into an alliance with the Father of Lies. I cannot say it any differently or plainly or most urgently.

Let me state what should not have to be stated, but sadly, it must. There is no biblical justification whatsoever for any Christ-follower to join political forces with anyone advocating for the death of any life created in the Image of God.

There was a time, even in our world’s sordid past, when aborting the baby was unthinkable; when homosexuality was understood as a mental defect, as the Roman Catholic Pope classified as morally abhorrent; when children were understood not to be able to understand the biological struggles they experienced and given time fully would come to accept their biology given to them by their Creator.

The just recently completed 2024 Democratic Party Convention witnessed medical abortions, and vasectomies offered to attendees. The latest reliable report had at least twenty-five abortions performed and untold vasectomies.

All without the ability to blush, you had Michelle Obama attempt to lecture America on the evils of income inequality while she and her husband have four different mansions.

All without the ability to blush, you had Oprah Winfrey postulate Americans will never experience the American Dream if women do not retain the right to “choose when and how to bring children into the world.”

And Joe Biden has the unmitigated gall to say Democracy is under attack if Donald Trump is elected POTUS. Forget Democracy; our nation’s very soul is up for grabs.

I carry no water for DJT and have made it abundantly clear I will not be voting for him. Yet, I gravely posit that America will be considerably worse with Kamala Harris taking up residence at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

I exhort my fellow Evangelical brethren to remain of good cheer, for regardless of the outcome this November, Jesus Christ of Nazareth is still King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

He is soon to return, and His reward will be with Him. May we be found faithful when He returns.

I dread anyone making political alliances with the likes of Joy Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Hillary & Bill Clinton, Michelle & Barack Obama, Tim Walz, and Kamala Harris will find solace and comfort in His return.

I say again and will do so until I have no breath left: No Evangelical, seeking to be faithful to the Word of God, can, in good conscience, align with the Democratic Party, as presently constituted.

William Booth had it so right: politics without God. That is what we are witnessing before our very eyes.

As usual, let me know what you think. Until then, keep your hands to the plow and seek to serve for an Audience of One.

With fear & trembling,

Ricky V Kyles Sr. DEd.Min
