Even though the Holy Writ is explicitly clear most American Evangelicals romanticize the American Revolution. Though most claim to hold God's revelation in high regard, they seemingly read a passage like Romans 13, and they fail to connect the dots.
So, while the Holy Writ commands believers to obey the government, most Evangelicals have apparently never filtered the American Revolution through a Biblical worldview lens.
I refuse to trust in philosophical arguments. As a committed Evangelical, it is "my meat and drink" to submit my conscience to the Word of God. Therefore, I refuse to join the rebellious celebration of the American Revolution.
I humbly ask you to actually read Roman 13 as well as a passage like 1 Peter 2:13-14 when it expressly says, "Submit yourselves to "every ordinance" of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for punishments of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well."
Verse 17 goes on to say, "Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the King. My question is simple. How do you display fear for God and honor for the king (we would use the word "president" by going to war against the British government during the Colonial Times?
