Evangelicals & Marriage

Add Republican presidential candidate and former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie to the ever-growing list of professing Conservatives who, when the rubber hit the road, have come up Weighed and Found Wanting. God’s Moral Law is immutable. Any first-year high school student can easily understand and define this unassailable Christian bedrock truth.

If you fall for the weak and tired, “Well, the Old Testament forbade eating shellfish or wearing mixed material,” you have only shown yourself to be woefully Biblically illiterate.

Eating shellfish was God’s civil and ceremonial etiquette for the Nation of Israel, as was the prohibition against mixing fabric in their clothing.

It is beyond the intent and scope of a blog post to delve too deeply into why God designed it this way other than to quickly posit God wanted the Nation of Israel to be distinct from their pagan and God-hating neighbors.

There are three categories of God’s Law. They are the

Moral Law

Ceremonial Law

Civil Law

God’s Moral Law, as I mentioned earlier, is immutable. It will always stand as long as there is a thing called “time and space.”

No matter how society's morality deteriorates, murder will never be morally permissible.

Marriage is apolitical. Thus, no human institution, even one ordained by God, has the authority to modify its parameters. At least not so with impunity.

The “evolving” reasoning from politicians would be laughable if not for eternal seriousness. A myriad of people are being led to Hell with a swift Pass Go and Straight to Eternal HellFire.

Marriage is no secondary issue where Christ-followers can agree to disagree and walk away like all is at ease in Zion.

First , Obama evolved, and now we witness Christie following the same ill-advised playbook.

Sorry, not sorry! As with any debate, argument, or election, there is only one voter that matters, and He is none other than Almighty God.

My plea to Barack Obama, to Oprah Winfrey, and to the Chris Christies of the ever-paganizing Conservative Republican Party is that “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of a Living God.”

If capitulating to the sexual revolution is what is required to gain election to the highest office in the land, then my immutable reply is humbly but forcefully,

For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? For what can a man give in return for his soul? For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

‭‭ Mark‬ ‭8‬:‭36‬-‭38‬ ‭ESV‬‬

As usual, let me know what you think. Until then, keep your hands to the plow and seek to serve for an Audience of One.

With fear & trembling,

Ricky Verndale Kyles Sr. DEd.Min
